Master Technology Teacher Certification Program Components

For teachers who wish to pursue MTT Certification in a "FASTRACK" online environment, the Continuing Education Services, with pedagogy and courseware from eEducation, has established a framework in the eEmpowerment Zone that will provide 36 CE credit hours (360 professional development hours) of SBEC-approved MTT preparation.

Lessons for this course have been developed for use with Microsoft Office suites, for PC-compatible system. Online lesson topics for the A&M MTT program are:

Introduction and Orientation
Teachers entering the A&M MTT Program take an initial assessment of their knowledge and skills in Technology Applications I-V. They learn what is expected of them as a Master Technology Teacher, and they begin to develop a personal plan for professional growth.

Technology in Society:
The role of technology in education is explored, including historical perspectives and issues of equal access to technology. Assistive technology is introduced and legal and ethical issues are discussed.

Finding Resources:
The ability to acquire, store, and retrieve electronic resources is developed. Special attention is focused on evaluating and citing these resources.

Multimedia Development:
The development and implementation of multimedia resources into the classroom is an important role of the MTT. The ability to design, develop, and integrate graphics, animations, sound, and video into learning experiences is gained.

Web-site Mastering:
Design of web-based instruction, including its organization and delivery, is learned. Lessons include online assessment and evaluation; streaming video over the Web, and desktop conferencing.

Distance Communication:
Collaborating at a distance, using distance communication tools, has become a reality in today's schools. Participants learn how to integrate collaborative skills into the educational setting.

Professional Development:
The MTT learns how to identify professional development needs and design professional development resources.

Instructional Design and Development:
Student-centered learning, learner analysis, assessment, and research are incorporated by the MTT into instructional design and development.

Being a Master Technology Teacher:
After mastering the knowledge and skills required of the MTT, the "real fun" begins. Leadership, mentoring, coaching, consulting, and collaboration skills are developed and practiced with fellow teachers in a field-based environment under the guidance of A&M MTT faculty.

Continuing Education Services Cancellation and Payment Policies

Cancellation
Participants are expected to complete their program of study. If for any reason, the participants are unable to fulfill their obligations, written notification must be submitted to the program director within 30 days of a scheduled module and/or class. A non-refundable cancellation fee will be assessed after payment due dates if written notification is not on file in the Continuing Education Services, Center for Distance Learning Research, Texas A&M University. If notice is received thirty days before the scheduled class, participants will receive their fees minus a cancellation fee of 3% of the original fee. If notice is received less than thirty days prior to scheduled module, the students will receive their fees minus a cancellation fee of 10% of the original fee. Once a class has commenced, there are no refunds.

The University reserves the right to cancel or postpone its programs in the event of insufficient registrations, instructor illness, severe weather, or natural disaster. In the event of program cancellation, registrants will be notified immediately and all fees will be returned in full.


Payment
If a module/class payment is not received on scheduled due date, your registration will be subject to cancellation. In addition, a late fee will be assessed for all registrations past the scheduled due date for payment.
