Assessment
As a teacher, you have goals and objectives of what you want your students to learn. How do you know that you’re meeting these goals? Understanding assessment and how it can be used within your course to measure learning is a vital part to any classroom. This lesson will cover various aspects of assessment and how you can make sure that you are evaluating your students effectively. This module will cover characteristics of assessment, types of assessment, issues related to assessment, as well as technology-related assessment.
Online Assessment & Evaluation
Assessment can play many roles within instruction. This module provides you with “real-life” examples of some online assessment techniques currently being used by schools, educators, and students. It also provides you with the rationale for including certain features of online assessment and evaluation in your school or classroom. Most computer-based courseware used in schools and universities, such as WebCT and Blackboard, include an assessment package. Several features of these assessment packages will be covered in this lesson.
Instructional Design
Upon completion of this module you should be able to apply a systems approach for creating lessons. The systems approach is what is known as “Instructional Design.” More specifically, his module focuses on creating lessons using technology because often, when a designer follows instructional design principles, technologies are identified to most effectively activate learning. The final project for this module will involve the design and development of a lesson for your or another teacher’s students using research-based instructional design processes and practices.
